About James

artistI was born in Hamilton and later moved to Welland where I lived for 17 years. Now I reside in St. Catharines with my beautiful fiancé. I first expressed interest in art in high school when I was introduced to Impressionism.

At the age of 19, I pursued my love of art and attended classes at Fanshaw College to perfect my talent. I enrolled in the Fine Arts program and over the course of four years completed the program. I went on to expand my knowledge and enrolled in Graphic Design at Niagara College. I am always trying to improve my work and to create larger images. Although I do almost every type of art, I like to focus on oil paintings, pencil crayon drawings, and photography.

Up to date I have had three shows in the Niagara Region and one in London, Ontario which are listed below:

February 25, 2000 - Pseudosurrealism - Ruth Anderson Galleries - London
January 8, 2004 - Scribbled - Dennis Tourbin Members Gallery - St. Catharines
September 17, 2005 - Scribble - Niagara Gallery Cafe - Fonthill
October 6, 2006 - Works of Art by James Willan - Kennedy Gallery Picture Framing Warehouse - St. Catharines

I am working towards having a photography show in January of 2008. Ultimately I would like my work to be displayed in galleries worldwide.
